I'm wondering about the quality of his tunes, particularly as they compare to the Cobb OTS maps.

Any insight is appreciated.

HE IS GOD. I got an open-source tune from him, and I can notice a HUGE difference. He is the BEST cobb tuner on the west coast, if not all of the U.S. check out azawd.org, they have a thread devoted to him. You will hear nothing but praise.

How are your AFRs throughout the powerband?

Boost levels?

Any knock?

i dont know much about tunings and such, so what are AFRs?

I don't have a boost gauge, so i couldnt tell you that.

No knock whatsoever. When I go back to phoenix in about a month and a half, I'm gonna have him tune me for ogden altitude, instead of phoenix altitude.

Air-Fuel ratio. I just wonder how he tunes--whether lean or rich.

I'm looking for solid info on how he tunes his cars; I'm glad to hear that your car feels better, but I prefer to have concrete data. A lean-running, high boost map does not interest me, as I want my engine to last a while.

Thanks for the insight!

ive got a clark tune and LOVE IT!!! Its far better then the OTS map. This is actually my second tune from him. His tunes run very well the car pulls harder in every gear and runs soo smooth. I dont think his maps are as rich as the Cobb OTS but he will make sure that you arent going to have knocking issues or anything like that.

I had the opportunity to ride in a Clark-tuned Stage 2 '09 WRX today...that thing accelerates with a purpose. The torque comes on very smoothly, but without any doubt that it is stronger than the Cobb OTS Stage 2 map.

That said, the AFRs are perfect-11:1 under boost. Didn't check the injector duty cycle, I'll follow up on that.

Clark Turner, the best tuner in the west coast, possibly the best in the U.S.
Phoenix, AZ
$200 for a road tune, a considerable amount more for a dyno.

From his site it looks like he offers a good deal on E-tunes. $150 and he uses logs to tweak the maps. It seems that you will need the AP2 or other form of ECU logging software in order to do that since AP1 will not log. Since you're using logs to tune, you can have him run it safer or more aggressive. Seems like a great deal.
