My beauty Debbie (02 WRX) came with the Apex'i AVC-R (for the boost controller) when i bought her. Does anyone know how to properly work one of these so i can change the boost to a higher setting?

You do not want to increase boost on a car with out tuning for it. As more boost, needs more fuel, and also a drastic change to the ignition table. Failure to do so, can cause catastrophic engine failure.

COBB is overrated I think, I sure I could get a tune equal to COBB or better for half the price. I personally like the Dynoflash tunes. Just don't get a ECUtek tune they lock your ECU.

Thing that people do not like about Cobb is the simple fact that it cost allot of money to get a pro-tune from them.
As ChriS mentioned, you can get online tunes. But the problem is that the person who is doing your tune will be across US. You send him logs and he tunes it based off what you send him. So it takes you 4-8 emails back and forth to get a decent tune, and then its not going to be consistent.
One day you did the Data-Log at 7AM when it was 60 degrees outside going up a 3degree grade hill. Next log you send was done at 8PM going down hill and with 80 degree temp outside. So now the tuner has 2 different conditions that he tried to tune for.
Best money you can ever spend is on a tune. Simple as that.
Some E-Tunes work great, and some are just JUNK! We have had customers get E-tunes that would not run the car and cause HUGE hesitation issues all over the place. Customers would take the cars to Cobb, spend money now on 2 tunes. And then finally have a tune that they are impressed with.

Also look on other sites like Nasioc, for custom E-Tunes. As some of the tuners have blown up more cars, and have more negative feed back then actually tuning cars successfully.

At the end of the day, there is a reason why Cobb sells AP's in Japan. They are the best at what they do, and that is tune. And considering they started the business with Subarus, and sell more tuning tools for the Subaru. You are better off taking your car to them. As at the end of the day, the $400 you would save on a tune from a e-tune, will not even cover a cost of the gaskets needed for a rebuild caused by a bad tune.

i can agree with you on that krill. Luckily I had a tune on a dyno in KC. I wish that SLC had a AWD dyno to tune other than COBB.
