The craftsmen ship is important too. If they welds break or are weak you are bound to have issues with your Air to fuel ratios....then your car doesn't run right and you run the risk of hurting your motor..

does pipe from generic company have the r&d that say grimmspeed does? how about heat retention and heat transfer? i'd rather not worry about 100 difference for an uppipe with it sitting an inch away from my heads.

^^^this. You could save a buck going eBay, but why not get the good stuff and not have any regrets later. It's worth waiting a little longer to get the stuff you really want in my opinion. I'm sure there are loads of others who would disagree with me but I'm going to get the best for my baby.

you will be fine just heat wrap the up pipe. cobb must not have too much rd if they cant even get it to bolt up. and another thing is the mostly use the same materials and everyone copies everyone else's design so your basically getting the same thing anyways.

i had a cobb uppipe on my car and i had no issues with making it fit. then i sold it to my friend when i went ewg.. went on his car with no issues. just sayinnnnnnn

You come back to me when flanges won't seat together on your two ebay pipes, from two manufacturers, with two completely differently pitched mounting surfaces. Quadruple stacking gaskets is NEVER a good idea...

if you have problems with the mating surfaces, you can get them surfaced. i wouldnt be too worried. just do what your comfortable with and dont overthink it.

+1 on this.
keep the engineering aspects in mind, and be critical of ebay and you will be fine (i have had no issues with any of my ebay parts, bov, exhaust piping, ect ect) . pipe is pipe, most of those companys are in business for what?? MONEY. they say, "hey, lets do this, make it for 10 bucks, and sell it for 100."
Sometimes, it is worth it. on critical parts like cam's, engine internals ect its worth spending the extra money for the security of the construction and materials to ensure to voids in metal for example. if its something simple like exhaust tubing... why worry? just make sure they are good welds, and good materials. and the flange is correct!

If you have to pay a machine shop to flatten out or alter a mating service, than you've

A) Already spent the money that you could have put towards a already good quality pipe

B) Created a major PITA that you will have to put a lot of time and energy towards

I would not get an ebay one. my brother bought one off of ebay and when he got it the welds were horrible and it was all cracked on the flanges.

yeah i think im just going to find an STi one and heat wrap it... im pretty much just wanting to go catless so nothing wrecks my turbo! and for getting a new turbo... i would like that but im going to wait for a little while i need the car to last me through college haha

+1! taking things to the shop, or modifying them in the garage is not the best idea, and a major PITA!!!!!!!!!

trust me, i have :fail: ed trying this one. the part failes sooner, rather than later.
on this in particular subject, the flang after it has been flattened out, can get hot, and warp under heat again when its on the car. my manifold did that....
