lawl....ummm, what?[/quote]

yep, you hear right. If you shift fast enough you will never lose the pressure in the IC piping, Or there is something called a no lift shift which can be controlled with em, Or you can just back off the throttle slightly when shifting instead of coming all the way off. These are for "racing" circumstances. And if you do these things the BOV will not go off when shifting, lawl lawl lawl. alien

And I agree with the filter instead of a short ram "hot air intake". Don't waste money on a short ram.
Just get a cold if your gonna get an intake. I know people are gonna start pulling their hair telling you not to. Well, lol it as simple as this. PERIOD. Drive your car in 100 degree weather then go drive you car on a cold night then tel me if you notice a difference.

By the way, Im sure it's confusing getting a bunch of different advice, just go with what feels right, I have been around these cars a long time and wouldnt try to misinform you at all. The last thing I would want is for you to hurt your car because of what I have suggested.

Short ram is designed for maximum air flow. It removes obstructions in the intake path and if your car necessitates a larger, less restrictive intake path, you probably moving fast enough to have enough air flow in the engine bay to void the "hot air intake". And if you plan on moving anywhere where there might be a large puddle, the Short ram is safer as well.

The whole thing is actually based on pps. Particles per square inch. The colder the air is the more dense it is. You want as much oxygen as possilbe going into your cylinders. The colder it is the more pps it will have. Meaning that with colder air you can put more particles of oxygen per square inch than you can with a warmer temp. And heat rises, the lower your filter is the colder the air will be. The heat of the engine is trapped in the engine bay and with a short ram thats where your filter will be, in the engine bay. With your filter behind the fog light you are gettin colder air force fed into the intake. There is no guess work there. I mean you could always run a pipe from behind the fog light up to the short ram filter, but that would just be a pain. Lets just put it to bed. Cold air's will give you more hp in the end. Mkay.

EDIT: nvm i am apparently a n00b at physics and require that basic gas laws be explained to me... I guess i should start to question my choice in engineering as a major...

Yup. I'm an idiot.

rex you crack me up everytime. Im sure your not a noob, but just trying to prove your point. so no need to argue a law, unless you have some hardcore fluid dynamic data for us to ponder over.

I'm done arguing with you man. I'm sick of your disregard towards other people's advice or opinions. Go ahead and insult my intelligence, i hope you think that your teaching me something.

And to the rest of the SLCsuby population, Sorry to argue in another thread. I, from now on, will refrain from clarifying anymore and will leave it up to the rest of you...

I know how you feel. :punchballs

Don't let that stop you from adding your valuable input. Let's be frank, you are known to give intelligent research-based information. He gives his "real world" BS and gives advice that can lead to serious problems. :banned:

If you stop offering real help, and explaining its validity, lots of noobs will end up listening to the misinformation that may be posted.

Don't argue, just dispel the BS. As frustrating as it can get, you may help someone along the way. Isn't that why we are here in the first place?

Thanks man, i'm just really frustrated and fed up with this stuff. Definitely done arguing.

And to Suby25, if you want to see those fluid dynamics that show a CAI less efficient than an intake with a shorter piece of pipe, PM me...

U noobz, get a tornado fuel saver and buckle ur seatbelt cuz OMG the guaranteed 10% power increase is fo reel, plus it pays for itself in gas mileage!
hahah lol.

I think both guys are "right", they just don't play well together.

Your right, I dont mean to sound like a dick, Im really just messing around and giving my opinion as well. Don't mean to argue, It just gets frustrating when everything is so back and forth. These are just things I have experienced hanging out in a shop for 5 years. And slowly building my car. And all of the cars that I have seen leave this shop have had lots of success. And some of the fastest most reliable subaru's have came out of this place. I wil just stay out of this part of the forum and do my own thing. I guess this is why I was told not to mess around with forums. Furthermore I dont believe any of the advice I have given will lead to serious problems. I have never meant to cause any problems or rub anyone the wrong way and if I have thats my bad.
