Thank you for taking the time to contact us and for your interest in Subaru products.

The 2002 and newer Subaru vehicles equipped with a 6-cylinder engine have a timing chain that does not need to be replaced. All other 2002 and newer models have a timing belt and are interference engines.

If you need any further information, please let us know. Have a great weekend Travis!

Sincerely,

If the timing belt broke then chances are youll have engine damage. If the timing is off then it will run like crap. The motors are interference motors. They arent Toyotas.

Thats why when our cars get in severe front end collisions the motors pop as well. Cause the timing belt is right in front.

its probably not a smart idea that you start it... maybe do a compression/ leakdown test.

don't run your car until you get your timing redone and a new belt thrown on!

i love how im the one that got owned. I posted my personal experience with a tuner that told me all of the knowledge that i had on it and thats all that i claimed. I claimed if it was an interference engine than how did my magical mystery problem happen. Haha i claimed no knowledge besides that and i stated it that way from the beginning

haha and thanks brody i like how your only post in weeks is to try and make me feel bad

I have seen the srt-4 neons and turbo's pt blow the timing belt right off at 85 or when racing and not one bent valve even though they are interference motors.... So with that said there are some random times and anything is possible..
